Release.

I am a barber. I stand behind a chair; behind a man cutting his hair while he speaks. Speaking into the open air. It Starts with his day, his week, his life, things about his wife, sometimes a little TMI, but it’s his comfort zone. No eye contact, open air, blank canvas.

He paints with his words; insecurities flow out, life's questions surface, troubles, worries, passions, goals, it all comes out while he speaks. I stand cutting. Ears engaged slow to speak; a time to listen. While he's reminiscing about his weekend, a new conversation has begun, meanwhile the hair cut is almost done. Just a few minutes of life released. With such a huge feeling of relief.
Ready to take on life again until he returns back to this seat....
